The Coastal Virginia Veterinary Dermatology team is here to provide your pet with the very best care.

Marlene Pariser, DVM, DACVD
Dermatologist
Marlene Pariser was born and raised in Hampton Roads. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, from Radford University in 2004 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Following graduation, she completed a private practice rotating internship in internal and emergency medicine and a dermatology internship at Animal Allergy and Dermatology. Dr. Pariser completed her residency in dermatology at Animal Allergy and Dermatology in 2013 and was board certified in 2015. During her residency, she authored publications on a number of unusual dermatologic conditions, including urticaria pigmentosa and feline cutaneous lymphocytosis, and reported research on the use of sodium hypochlorite on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius.
Marlene Pariser’s interest in dermatology started at a young age. Her grandfather, father, and uncle who were/are MD dermatologists in the Hampton Road area, kindled her interest in dermatology, albeit towards different species, namely companion animals. Outside of veterinary medicine, her interests include yoga and backyard farming. She and her husband share their home with a very rambunctious toddler, three “feline fur kids”, and chickens.
Katlyn Robertson, DVM, DACVD
Dermatologist
In Dr. Robertson’s spare time, her and her husband enjoy spending time with family, hiking, camping, traveling, playing volleyball, and trying unique food. She has a pug, Thea (the Drill Sergeant of the family), and a hound mix, Tanner (the definition of a goofball).
Lydia Smith, DVM
Dermatology Resident
Amanda
Office Manager
Amanda was born and raised in Virginia Beach. She knew she wanted to help animals when she and her mom adopted a kitten and brought it to a local veterinarian’s office who treated it for a multitude of medical problems and ultimately saved her life. Fast forward nearly 13 years later, Amanda began her veterinary career at that very hospital. She has been in veterinary medicine since 2008 and has not only worked in primary care but worked in emergency and specialty medicine. She found her passion when she started working in dermatology with Dr. Pariser in 2013.
Amanda is one of the first friendly faces that will greet you as you come into our Virginia Beach office. She is dedicated to her job and our clients and always makes sure they are well taken care of and ensures our patients get top quality care.
When Amanda isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and son, whether it be on the boat, camping, shopping or just a lazy day at the house. She completes her family with Bessie the beagle (the love of her life and first born) and Huckleberry the Redbone Coonhound. She is also known in her family as the animal whisperer because she will bring home whatever cat or dog she finds that needs a home and give them to different family members for them to happily live out their life

Katie, LVT
Technician
Katie has been a Virginia Beach local her whole life. Her love of animals began at an early age helping her grandparents care for the multitude of wildlife in the backyard of their Kempsville home. Her interest in veterinary medicine began when a kind local veterinarian let her take that first peek in the ear canal of her beloved family cat. She was convinced that she needed to pursue a career treating and caring for animals. Fast forward many years, Katie graduated in 2002 from Blue Ridge Community College with a License in Veterinary Technology. She has been working the past 20+ years in specialty veterinary medicine including surgery, emergency, and dermatology.
Katie found dermatology fascinating and was thrilled when Dr. Pariser invited her to join her team. Client education and support are the services Katie is passionate about. She wants to make sure that you understand and are satisfied with any treatment plan.
When Katie isn’t working, she enjoys family time with her husband and son. No family would be complete without pets. In a house divided, it is an even split of cats and dogs, with two of each. The two dogs, Chewey (boxer) and Champ (hound mix), love sleeping on the sofas whenever they can. The two new additions are the brother and sister kittens, Gambit and Mystique. They are constantly causing lots of trouble but always making for entertaining stories at the office.

Becca
Administrative Assistant
Becca was born locally and lived just outside of Winchester, VA for most of her childhood until moving back to VB in middle school. She dropped out of First Colonial High School to later earn a bachelor’s degree in physics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Becca taught high school physics for five years and spent her summer breaks working for Dr. Pariser. In 2022, Becca decided to switch gears and join Dr. Pariser’s team full-time. She now lives a happier, stress-free life as a spinster looking for her cat daddy. In her free time, Becca enjoys making jewelry and sculptures out of polymer clay, reading about anything and everything, swamp stomping around tidal salt marshes, and looking forward to being home with her best friend/roommate and their cats Harriet, Sigmund, and Bee.
